Women of West Erwin

Charm is deceptive, beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

– Proverbs 31:30

Ladies Sewing Ministry

The Tuesday Morning Ladies at the Benevolent Center focus their efforts on sending diaper shirts and bandages to the Chimala Missions center in Tanzania, Africa. The church that oversees this work is based in Montgomery, Alabama through the Dalraida Church of Christ.

On Tuesday mornings from 8:30 until 11:00, several ladies meet together to sew diaper shirts for over 250 babies born each month at the hospital in Chimala while others roll bandages to be distributed to over 750 patients each month receiving treatment at the hospital.

After the diaper shirts and bandages are made, they are counted and packed into 17”x10” boxes. They are then stored until a scheduled pick up is made by a member of the Dalraida church. This is usually done once a year. Hundreds of diaper shirts and thousands of bandages are collected for shipment to Chimala by our group of ladies.

Some of our ladies also piece quilts and lap robes, creating beautiful pieces that are distributed to local nursing homes and other facilities. We have some very talented ladies and appreciate their dedication. Donations of fabrics and sheets are always appreciated.
